About
Island roots.
A fresh chapter.
A family market, a community gathering place, and a St. Thomas tradition since 1975.
Fifty years at Wheatley Center
Part of island life.
From the very beginning.
The Fruit Bowl opened in 1975 as an importer and retailer of fresh fruits and vegetables on St. Thomas. Over five decades, the store has become a fixture of the Wheatley Shopping Center and a first stop for anyone on the island who cares about what they cook with.
What set The Fruit Bowl apart from the beginning was range. On an island where freight schedules and shelf space shape what people can buy, we built a business around carrying more—more produce, more variety, and more of the things you would otherwise have to fly in yourself.
Today, Wendy and Adam Peck own and operate The Fruit Bowl, carrying on the business founded by Marty Goldberg.
What we believe about food
Fresh takes care.
So do people.
Fresh is a commitment we have spent fifty years keeping: sourcing, importing, and turning over produce so that what reaches your kitchen is worth cooking.
Good food should be reachable. We have long carried the tag “the best for less,” and we accept EBT and SNAP because a fresh food market should serve the whole community.
